The Dreamers are descendants of people who “took land from the Indians” as well. I find it hilarious that most people including many of them are too ignorant to recognize this basic fact.
The reality is that there weren’t that many “Indians” on the continent when Europeans began to colonize and inhabit the lands that now comprise the Americas. The whole of America was not covered in a mass of people occupying every acre of land. You can’t take something from someone to whom that something does not belong.
There are land areas that were taken forcibly from tribes. Such as the lands which were taken from the Creek and Cherokee in Georgia, Alabama and Florida which resulted in the Trail of Tears. This is true. Likewise, before the American Nation was formed, those Indians fought, conquered, raped and pillaged other tribes and took land from other peoples. There never existed on Great Indian Nation from sea to shining sea in North America or any part of the Americas.
For the most part, though, settlers moved into lands that were unoccupied but claimed as hunting grounds or sacred grounds by various tribes in the Americas. I’m calling bullshit on hunting grounds and sacred grounds. Would the Left who worships the “Noble Savage” be accommodating if it were Christians claiming that these grounds were sacred. I can tell you that the answer is no because every time a Christian claims America is a Christian Nation, the Left loses their collective minds and howls in discontent and righteous indignation.
The old, tired, blown out trope that we “took these lands from the Indians” is mostly nonsense. They didn’t own these lands and they were not the original inhabitants of these lands. The Indians whom Europeans encountered were merely the latest arrivals on the scene before the arrival of the Europeans. For instance, the Apache whom the Conquistadores encountered in the late 1500s and whom the US Cavalry fought in the Indian Wars in the late 1800s arrived….wait for it….IN THE LATE 1500s from what is now Canada. They were moving South taking lands from those who were there before them. What exactly is the difference between a migration of Europeans and a migration of Apache. I can tell you. The distances traveled.
The Apache won out for a time. Then the US became a National whole and conquered them as they would have conquered us if they had had the wherewithal to do so.
So, please, stop this nonsensical half truth, mostly false trope about the Noble Savage and their having been on these lands for thousands upon thousands of years.
If such were the case, someone needs to explain to me the rise and falls of the many empires that existed in the Americas prior to the advent of European Colonization of said Americans.
Fantasy and emotionalism are nothing upon which to based a firm, fact based opinion.
