Some of these are fairly gruesome. I’m pretty sure one is the Luzon landing. Some are from the battles in the Philippines. I think some of it is from mainland Japan.
These are the last of the pics from Grandpa Les.

VERY INTERESTING. THANK YOU FOR SHARING. ISN’T IT AMAZING
THAT YOUR NIECE WAS BORN IN JAPAN AFTER ALL OF THIS.
Your images show the difficulty in compassion and forgiveness, but working toward it is worth the trouble.
Thanks,

I think those pictures show the importance of compassion and forgiveness. Our world is too often without those two acts and, therefore, all too often we resort to war and violence. We are drawn to these acts as much as we are drawn to war and violence.
I just found this site and am looking forward to finding out exactly who put this blog together and how did they get their photos!
My grandfather was a B-24 pilot durring WW2 and was recalled to Korea in the early 50′s. For the last year I took care of my grandfather until he passed in April. I have been compiling stories pictures and have been going thru and learning about his time during both wars. I came across a stack of photos from him that he has had hidden or chosen not to show his daughter (my mom). Now I thought I had pics that were rare and one of a kind, but when I found this site I discovered that these photos are the exactly the same photos! I have the original 50′s white bordered photos of the exact same pictures above on this blog. Now my grandpa told me that he bartered or traded them from a photographer during the war. My grandpa is true to his word and his a man known with great appreciation, respect and pride. Now I have close to a couple hundred photos of many different war places.
I hope this finds someone who can help me find out the mystery behind these war photos and maybe help me find out who crossed paths with my grandpa during these times.
